This publication marked the inauguration of the South and Southeast Asian Gallery, at the NUS Museum, which features Buddhist and Hindu sculptures, ceramics from Southeast Asia and China, textiles from Southeast Asia and India, and modern art works from Southeast Asia and India. The publication also heralds the re-nascence of a collection whose beginnings are located in the 1950s, and which has been in storage and largely forgotten over the past twenty years.
