NUS Baba House: Architecture and Artefacts of a Straits Chinese Home

NUS Baba House: Architecture and Artefacts of a Straits Chinese Home, is a reference to the myriad features that a visitor encounters while exploring this turn of the 20th century heritage townhouse.

With over 250 images accompanied by descriptive text, the reader learns of stories from Chinese folklore that are intricately carved on wooden screens, the values conveyed by calligraphic inscriptions on the walls, and the traditions and memories embedded in a diverse selection of artefacts. A personal touch is included with snippets from the lives of Wee family members for whom the house was an ancestral home.

Published with the generous support of Ms Agnes Tan in memory of her father the late Tun Tan Cheng Lock.
