Explore art and museology through the lens of multidisciplinary approaches

Calling all current Junior College and NUS students, as well as recent graduates from NUS with an interest in visual cultures and museum practice! NUS Museum invites you to sign up for Museum Lab: an interactive and experimental programme exploring the intersection of visual cultures, museology and craft.

Museum Lab will equip participants with foundational knowledge and skills necessary to engage critically in modes of seeing, displaying and relaying art and visual cultures. Featuring a curriculum of guest lectures, workshops and discussion groups, participants will explore art and museology through the lens of multidisciplinary approaches.

Throughout the Museum Lab, participants will engage in a series of lectures and workshops with the mentorship of NUS Museum’s curatorial and academic staff, Curatorial Lead Siddharta Perez, and Academic Director A/P Lilian Chee. Additionally, participants will be exposed to the work of practitioners in art and craft grounded in heritage and vernacular knowledge with the guidance of Fawzi Nasir and Ramah, who will take participants through a workshop on St John’s Island. To ground the participants’ learning each week, discussion groups with the Museum’s Faculty and Community Engagement staff will complement the lectures and workshops, providing a platform for open and critical engagement.

Participants will also get to put their learning to practice, proposing an experimental curatorial project of their choosing — a programme proposal, exhibition proposal, tour script, exhibition essays.
